REX BROWN Says He And PHILIP ANSELMO Are Having 'A Marital Spat'
May 27, 2011Bassist Rex Brown (PANTERA, DOWN, KILL DEVIL HILL) was recently interviewed on the "Focus In The Mix With Denise Ames" TV show. You can now watch the second part of the chat below.
When asked if he still speaks to his former PANTERA and current DOWN bandmate Philip Anselmo, Brown replied, "We're having a little marital spat, so I'll just leave it at that. I'm in the doghouse."
Brown was unable to join DOWN for the band's recent shows and was temporarily replaced by CROWBAR bassist Patrick Bruders. Speaking to The Delaware County Daily Times, DOWN guitarist Pepper Keenan stated about Brown, "Rex is not gonna be with us [on the road for the upcoming shows]. He's got things he needs to deal with, and we gave him an ultimatum and he's trying to work things out. We've got Pat from CROWBAR playing bass, and he's ass-kickin' in the same way. He plays with his fingers which is really cool; he's got the whole Geezer Butler thing going on."
When asked if Rex was still considered a part of DOWN, Pepper replied, "I don't know what to really say on that; he's not out of the band, but he's not playing with us live."
"Focus In The Mix With Denise Ames" airs the first and third Friday of each month on Time Warner's channel 165 at 7:30 p.m. throughout North L.A. County and streaming on www.FocusintheMixwithDeniseAmes.com.
KILL DEVIL HILL recently finished demoed around 10 songs, which, according to drummer Vinny Appice (HEAVEN & HELL, BLACK SABBATH, DIO),sound "like a cross between BLACK SABBATH, ALICE IN CHAINS and a little bit of LED ZEPPELIN thrown in. It's heavy, but with a lot of cool hooks and melodic overtones, too."
KILL DEVIL HILL made its live debut on April 29 at the Key Club in Hollywood, California. The group played a 30-minute set which was previously described as "an introduction to what's to come!"
